- Required darkness steadily increasing with known-good supplies
- Barcode verification failure that follows a fixed printhead position
First rule out dirt, ribbon wrinkles, platen damage, wrong pressure and defective media.
Extend printhead life
Clean at the interval specified for the printer and supplies. Use the lowest pressure and darkness that still produce verified output. Keep covers closed in dusty areas, use properly slit supplies and ensure thermal transfer ribbon covers the media width.
Do not touch the print line with bare fingers. Oils can trap debris and create uneven heat transfer.
